Colour the Canvas
Art On The Line
Do you want to make art but don't know where to start? Need some inspiration to shake up your creative process? Grab a drink, pull up a cushion, get comfy under the hills hoist - and come and have an ekphrastic conversation.
The process of ekphrasis – art inspired by art – can shake up the way we communicate and think about ourselves as creators. We are constantly creating in the interactions we have with each other; and others' creativity can be a source for our own.
Join the creative folks from Colour the Canvas, co-ordinated by Laura Bergmann, in an interactive installation of your art. Pick up where someone else left off, collaborate with other participants or start a new masterpiece. When you're done, you can literally put your 'Art On The Line' - ready for the next willing artist. Ephemerally, the process builds connections between images, words and people; revealing that inspiration can start small, that creative exchanges are incredibly valuable, and momentum is a powerful force.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Canberra-based artist Laura Bergmann has a strong foundation in her practice as a painter, and has expanded her exploration of visual language as an interactive art worker. Laura’s interactive works encourage an exchange of ideas and creative collaboration. Her works explore the processes of ekphrasis (art inspired by art) by creating unstructured visual notations of social interaction. By including paper and paint as a part of the vocabulary of a conversation, Laura maps a network of exchange between images and individuals. She investigates the shift in interaction that comes with documenting conversation through art-making, and in the way different art forms – like different people – speak to each other.
