Frederick McGrath Weber

Beaters

Project Information

Beaters' is a sculpture that takes an everyday object into the realm of art by altering the object's size and functionality. Inspired by Claes Oldenburg, this hyper-realistic work takes a commonplace object and, by enlarging it, encourages the viewer to contemplate its form and function at a macro level. Within every new environment, the huge beaters encourage contemplation of what effect they could have on the landscape, (or what sized cake they could make!)

About the Artist

Frederick is a third year Visual Art Sculpture and Commerce Marketing student at the Australian National University. He lives on a property on Majura Road where he practises his work and draws inspiration from the environment around him. With a passion for working with metal, recycled material and new media, he creates large artworks with a lighthearted and cheerful message.
