Caracas born, Frank Madrid worked as a journalist before moving to the US to study arts administration at the New York University School of Professional Studies. He joined Putumayo World Music, the world largest independent record label and became an advocate for diversity in the music scene. Upon relocating to Australia, Frank completed postgraduate studies in Integrated Communications & Marketing at the University of Canberra and a Master in Business and Arts Management from the Australian Institute of Music at the Sydney Opera House.
Frank represents an impressive catalogue of Australian artists and is responsible for producing and presenting an eclectic array of international cultural products throughout Australia and New Zealand. Having lived in Canberra for a decade Frank developed a strong bond with the city through a presence on radio as a guest presenter of the segment The Suitcase on ABC666 and creator of World Lounge on Arts Sound FM, through his involvement with the National Multicultural Festival for almost a decade as programmer and host, as Creative Producer of Flip Art, as well as working with a number of local arts organisations including Canberra Arts Marketing, the Canberra Symphony Orchestraand various local film festivals. His groundbreaking DJ work has been enjoyed by many at numerous venues across the city.
A music producer, publicist and concert promoter, Frank has taken Canberra artists to stages in New York City, Mexico City and Sao Paulo and has brought exotic sounds from all corners of the globe to the Q, The Canberra Theatre Centre, The Street Theatre and NewActon where he curated the very successful Music+Arts+Food series. Currently a Guest Curator of the Love Busk International Digital Festival, Frank is delighted to join the curatorial team of Art, Not Apart.
