Visual Art

Nexas Quartet presents a carefully selected range of contemporary music arranged/composed by Phillip Glass, Arvo part, Tim Dargaville and Manuel the Falla under the concept of ‘Rituals and Mysticisms’ from around the world. Gregorian chants, Balinese ritual music and the music from Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance will set the atmosphere while visual artist Matt Chun creates a piece of art in a live studio, and audiences witness the process.

Matt Chun is an artist, writer and freelance curator, working between Taipei, Sydney and his permanent open studio in Bermagui – a small fishing village on the Far South Coast of NSW. Matt works across a variety of media, examining portraiture and landscape through large-scale drawing, installation sculpture or intimate travel sketches. During 2016, he exhibited at Nishi Gallery, the Casula Powerhouse in Sydney and the Guandu International Sculpture Festival in Taiwan. Matt’s next exhibition of portraits will open at Sydney’s May Space in April. As a writer, Matt primarily engages with visual culture and national identity.
