Jumbled

Visual Art

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Jumbled (2016 – ongoing).

Plaster, wood and wire.

Jumbled is an installation-artwork cast from chicken dust bowls. Once the bodies begin to take shape, the Cnidarian-like creatures are freed from the soil to roam.

Producing the beings is a collaborative process between artist and animal — the reference lines of scratching and clawing provide evidence of authorship. Negative space becomes positive space as the limbs release it from the earth, liberating the creature to join the growing swarm.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Canberra based artist, Frederick McGrath Weber, offers a unique perspective on the Australian landscape. His artistic practice stems from an environmentalist mindset that takes the form of documentary photography and sculptural works influenced by his interactions with nature. His three-dimensional work draws on assemblage techniques, combing found objects and cast-offs that blend rural and urban influences.
