ABOUT THE PROJECT
Everyday Strangers is a video work which meanders between intimate scenes of different characters in moments of being alone. This video present ordinary experiences of daily existence as meaningful and layered moments, meditating on the beauty and absurdity of life. The combination of flowing visuals and a rich sound scape engage the viewer into these simple captured moments which create an almost meditative state.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rose is in the final year of her Bachelor of Visual Art at the ANU, majoring in photography however of recent she began independently exploring moving image and video art. Rose began exploring the medium of photography 7 years ago setting up elaborate tableau’s and directing her subjects to create a narrative and cinematic photograph. Some of these works were exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW in 2015. In 2019 she received an Award for Emerging Artist in Video and Moving Image for her graduation body of work.
Rose’s video work presents vibrant and seductive visuals paired with rich sound scapes which draw the viewer into a world which is mundane and relatable at the same time as being slightly absurd, poignant and perplexing.
